    Description

    For sale: (1) Reproduction door striker (door latch interface) for a Volvo Sugga.  I believe that this also fits the even rarer Volvo TPV but I'm in the process of confirming that.  One TPV owner says they fit his car so I am 99% sure they fit the rest of the TPV.  Several sugga owners in Sweden have also now reported being happy with them.
    My own sugga had a broken door striker and I was quickly told that they were a very rare part and broken ones were common.  I was told the swap the front to the rear or left to right (the 4 strikers on the cars are all the same).  I wasn't happy with this option but had no other choices.
    I ended up using my connections in the foundry industry to have a very small batch of new strikers cast in steel.  I was able to 3-d model the old one and then adapt it slightly to use the sliding ears from a 544 striker (those bodies are different from sugga ones) to work as well as the original sugga ones.  I first 3-d printed a sample striker in plastic and then test fit it on the car as well as with the sliding ears from a 544.  It worked well.
    I then had the part 3-d printed in wax and using the lost wax casting technique, I was able to have a total of 20 strikers cast.  I used 1020 steel so if there is a problem in the future, they can be welded or tapped or...  The original ones were soft pot metal.  As a final check, I then assembled the new ones with parts taken from a 544 striker and they still work great.
    The sales price just cover my costs.  This was more a personal project to fix my own car and to have some fun with advanced manufacturing techniques.  When the batch of 20 is gone, they will not be made again.
    In my photos above, the  3 red ones are the printed waxes before being coated for the lost wax process.  The black one is the original broken one, with one I produced.  The orange/red one bolted to my own car after I coated it with red oxide prime.  As these are bare steel, please plan on painting them.
